Clicks, scroll wheel and phantom double-clicks

Test your mouse online: left, right, middle and side buttons, scroll wheel, unwanted double-click detection, clicks per second and polling rate in Hz.

Click each button inside the area, turn the wheel, and move the mouse quickly in circles to measure the polling rate.

FAQ

What is a phantom double-click?

A worn switch sometimes sends two clicks instead of one: files open by themselves, drag and drop breaks. The test flags it when two clicks of the same button arrive less than 80 ms apart.

What is polling rate?

It is how many times per second the mouse reports its position: 125 Hz for an office mouse, 500–1000 Hz for gaming mice, up to 8000 Hz for the latest. Move the mouse quickly in circles to measure it.

Side buttons do not respond?

The “back” and “forward” buttons are recognised by most browsers. If they do not light up, the mouse software may have remapped them to another function.
